Cosmetic teeth bonding is a one visit procedure that can be performed in our Glendale, Arizona dental office, where tooth colored resins are applied to the tooth. If you have close, small gaps between your front teeth, or if you have chipped or discolored teeth, you may be a candidate for bonding. Tooth bonding is also used for patients who have uneven teeth, gum recession or tooth decay. Bonding can serve as an alternative treatment choice to porcelain veneers.
A very mild etching solution is applied to you teeth to create very small crevices in the tooth's enamel structure. This provides a slightly rough surface permitting a composite filed resin to bond to your tooth with an adhesive. Once placed, a high-intensity laser cures the resins onto your tooth’s surface. Each individual layer of resins hardens in less than a minute. When the layer has been applied, the bonded material is then sculpted and finely polished.
Cosmetic tooth bonding is a very conservative and affordable procedure. Costs range from 350 to 550 per tooth. There are drawbacks however; perfect matching is sometimes difficult between certain teeth and the resins. Even after polishing porosity remains, so smokers and heavy coffee and tea drinkers will find that their bonding will yellow with time. Results can not be expected to last longer than 5-7 years and minor repairs can be required.
