CEREC
CEREC is a revolutionary way to restore damaged teeth in a single
visit. CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration in Esthetic Ceramics)
is a high tech computer and milling machine used to manufacture
tooth restorations, like crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers.
Chairside means the dentist can provide the treatment
(crown, veneer, etc.) in one visit and Ceramic refers
to the final product - a nonmetallic restoration
which is bonded to the existing or remaining tooth
structure. As such, CEREC restorations are extremely
durable and natural looking.
With the CEREC method there is usually no need for impressions
or a 2-3 week wait for your restoration to come back from the lab.
You don't have a second visit that might require numbing the area
again because the procedure is completed in a single visit!
In providing the best in Phoenix cosmetic dentistry,
Dr. Wilcox and the team at Desertsmiles, pride themselves on using this state of the art equipment. CEREC is a high tech computer and milling machine that Dr. Wilcox uses to design and fabricate your new CEREC crown or onlay restoration. He will prepare the tooth by removing the old filling material and decay and cracks (if any). Next he will coat the tooth with the CEREC powder so the infared camera can image the preparation accurately. He then uses the CEREC camera to image the prep of the tooth and place it on the computer screen. Now Dr. Wilcox will design you new CEREC crown. You can watch him do this or you can relax in our VIP lounge while you wait. Once Dr. Wilcox is done with the design, he will send the design to the milling unit and your CEREC restoration will begin the milling process. This usually takes about 8 to 15 minutes.
After the CEREC crown (see photo), Dr. Wilcox will then bond the CEREC with a special bonding cement using our high intensity laser. He will then make sure the bite is accurate and polish you new CEREC.
WOW! This was all done in approximately one hour.
