It turns out that many more people besides your dentist, Dr. Donald Wilcox at Desert Smiles, our esteemed cosmetic dentistry practice serving patients in and around Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona, are interested in new ways to practice great dental hygiene.
Consider the March 2015 issue of Better Homes And Gardens magazine. In this issue, the magazine’s regular feature entitled “Do One Thing Better,” is dedicated to better teeth brushing. A 2013 readership audit indicated that the 93-year-old magazine has a circulation of 7,624,505.
Here are three better-brushing tips from that BH&G article:
- No. 1: Make it count. In addition to the sage, old advice to brush twice daily, the Better Homes and Gardens brushing expert advised spending at least 30 seconds brushing each of the four quadrants of the mouth.
- No. 2: Positive positioning. While you brush, play with the position of your toothbrush to reach teeth at various angles.
- No. 3: Take it easy. Short, gentle, back-and-forth brushing motions trump a tough, hard scrub with your toothbrush as the latter can damage the tooth enamel.
Regular, professional dental cleanings also go a long way toward great dental health and hygiene.
