The process of placing porcelain veneers typically requires two working-visits to our office. These visits, spaced about three weeks apart, will be for the preparation and placement of your customized veneers. One or two visits may be needed in between for check-ups and whitening of adjacent teeth to help ensure a color match when your porcelain veneers are placed.

All Types of Veneers

Dr. Wilcox offers both Durathin and Mac Veneers. These veneers have been chosen for their durability, ease of placement, and aesthetic superiority. However, no single option will be ideal for every smile.

During your initial consultation at our Glendale office, Dr. Wilcox will carefully evaluate your cosmetic imperfections, discuss all of your options, and help you choose the type of porcelain veneer best for your needs.

Problems that can be fixed by porcelain veneers include:

  • Gaps and spaces in between teeth
  • Crooked or crowded tooth presentation
  • Irregular tooth sizes and shapes
  • Severe tooth discoloration

Durathin veneers require no tooth preparation and may only require one working visit to place. Mac Veneers are a thicker option that will require tooth preparation. The trade-off is a more durable veneer that may last significantly longer than Lumineers and alternatives like Durathin.

The truth is, there is no single type of porcelain veneer that can meet the diverse needs of every patient. Dr. Wilcox has carefully chosen these brands based on the specific benefits they offer our patients. We will discuss which option is ideal for your smile when you come to our Glendale cosmetic dentistry office for your initial consultation.

Are There Faster Options?

Porcelain veneers offer remarkable, but not singularly unique results. Similar results can be achieved through options such as dental bonding, which may be significantly faster to complete. However, it is important to remember that, while porcelain veneers take longer to place than some cosmetic options, they last much longer than most alternatives and remain one of the best options available for the treatment of cosmetic imperfections.

Commonly, veneers are placed in combination with other services, enabling Dr. Wilcox to address imperfections with each tooth to produce a consistently pleasing aesthetic. Combinations may include veneers with bonding, dental crowns, tooth whitening, gum lift, and even general services like tooth-colored fillings, inlays/onlays, and deep cleanings.

When services are combined in this manner, the procedure is called a smile makeover. This option is neither needed nor attractive for every patient but remains a very useful solution for men and women struggling with more pronounced cosmetic imperfections. When you come to our office to discuss porcelain veneers, we can discuss complimentary services as appropriate.
