Instant orthodontics typically refers to the correction of minor malocclusion with porcelain veneers. While not truly “instant,” addressing cosmetic bite irregularities with dental veneers is significantly faster than traditional orthodontics, often being able to completely transform a smile in as few as three weeks.
Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of teeth that are unevenly spaced, crooked, irregularly sized, or gapped, producing a straight, even, and consistently attractive smile. While there are no true functional benefits to this treatment, instant orthodontics can produce a more attractive and appealing look without requiring months or years of treatment.
Why Instant Orthodontics?
The most common type of orthodontic treatment is braces. Comprised of brackets that are cemented to the teeth and run through with arch-wire, traditional braces pull teeth into their optimal position through manual adjustments over the course of 18 to 36 months. These adjustments may cause discomfort for several days after.
In addition to painful adjustments, braces can cut or irritate soft oral tissue and will require special instruments to clean. What’s more, you cannot eat many fresh fruits or vegetables, nuts or seeds, or a variety of other healthy and nutritious foods when you have traditional braces.
None of these things are issues with instant orthodontics.
As opposed to painful routine adjustments over two to three years, instant orthodontics require minimal tooth preparation and only a few visits to complete. As opposed to irritating oral tissue, difficulties keeping teeth and gums clean, and dietary restrictions, instant orthodontics act and are cared for in the exact same manner as natural teeth. This makes them substantially more comfortable and convenient than even removable options like Invisalign®.
